Shri Harya

Opera House is the heart of the diamond trade, and it’s always a bit chaotic. Our office, Shri Harya, is in 12/A Shreeji Arcade. The arcade is one of those buildings where everyone seems to be in a rush. You see people huddled in corners talking in low voices or running to catch the lift. Our space is small, just enough for the essentials. We spend most of our time under the tube lights, looking at tiny things. It can be quite tiring for the eyes after a few hours. The street noise outside is constant—horns honking and people yelling for taxis. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been together for years. We know exactly how we like things done. Sometimes the lift in the arcade breaks down, and walking up the stairs in the humidity is no fun. But this is where the business happens, so we stay put. There’s a specific smell to this area, a mix of old stone buildings and street food. We don't have fancy decorations on the walls, just some calendars and maybe a photo or two. It’s a practical workspace for practical people. When the market is busy, we are here late. When it's slow, we sit and drink more tea than usual. Working in Shreeji Arcade means you are never truly alone. If you do your work properly, people find you. It’s a steady place to spend our days.
