Shree Sairam Khichiya Centre

You can find us on Old Nagards Road in Andheri East. We have been making khichiya here for quite some time now. It is a specialized kind of work, and it gets very hot near the stoves where we roast everything. The shop is not very large, and most of the space is taken up by our equipment and the stacks of finished goods waiting to be picked up. We start work before the sun comes up to get the dough prepared and the seasonings just right. It is a family thing mostly, so we are always talking and sometimes arguing while we work. The street outside is usually crowded with people and bikes, so it can get pretty loud during the day. We have a lot of regular customers who come from other parts of Andheri just to get their supply for the week. Sometimes we run out early and have to tell people to come back tomorrow, which they don't always like to hear. We don't do any fancy marketing or have big posters outside. People just know our location on Old Nagards Road and they find us. We spend a lot of time cleaning up flour and grain from the floor because it gets everywhere no matter how careful we are. It is hard on the hands and the back, but we have been doing it so long that it just feels normal now. We stay focused on the work and keep the shop running as long as people want it.
