Our shop is located at 363 in Mangaldas Market, which is on the Dharamkan Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road. It’s a very famous spot for cloth and we are right in the thick of it. The market is always crowded, especially on the double road, and it can be a real struggle just to get through the narrow lanes sometimes. We have been here for a long time, dealing in various kinds of textiles. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with rolls of fabric. There isn't much space to move around, but that’s just how it is in Mangaldas Market. We spend our days measuring out cloth, cutting it for customers, and talking to the wholesalers who come by. It’s a loud, busy environment and you have to be quick on your feet. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just some old fans that hum all day long. The air is always full of lint and the smell of new cotton. We know our regulars and we know which fabrics are selling well this season. It's a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bundles and organizing the shelves every morning. We start early and stay late until the market finally starts to quiet down. It’s a simple life of buying and selling cloth, just like many others in this part of the city have done for years.
