Shree Balaji Snacks

The smell of frying usually starts pretty early here in Ghatkopar West at our main spot. Shree Balaji Snacks is where we spend our whole day, mostly over hot stoves or packing things into bags. It’s a busy place, especially in the mornings when people are rushing to get something to eat before they head to the station. We don't have a fancy dining area; it’s more of a practical setup where the focus is on the food itself. We use recipes that have been around for as long as we can remember. There’s a lot of chopping and mixing that happens behind the scenes. Our hands are usually covered in flour or spices. We don't use a lot of big machines; we still do most of it by hand because that’s how we learned. The bags of ingredients are stacked in the corner, and we go through them fast. Ghatkopar is a lively neighborhood, and we feel like a small part of the daily routine for the folks who live around here. Sometimes we run out of a certain snack by midday and have to start a fresh batch right away. It’s tiring work, standing on your feet all day, but we’re used to it. We keep the counter clean and the containers full. No big slogans or anything, just snacks for people who are hungry and in a hurry.
