Our workshop is tucked away in Masjidbhai Chawl over in the Nitya Nand area of Ghatkopar West. If you know the Shivanagar neighborhood or the Shanthi Sagar area, you’ve probably walked past us without thinking much about it. We spend most of our hours cutting aluminum sections and fitting glass for windows and doors. It is a noisy place to work because of the saws and the drilling sounds that go on throughout the day. The floor is usually covered in small silver metal scraps and fine dust from the cutting process. We aren't doing anything high-tech or fancy, just practical fabrication work for homes and small shops nearby in Phase V. Sometimes we are out at a site measuring frames, and other times we are back here in the chawl putting things together. The sun can make the metal quite hot during the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy cutting done early when it is cooler. We don't have a big office or a receptionist, so when people come by, they usually just talk to whoever is holding the measuring tape at the time. It’s a very straightforward business where we just take the orders, cut the material to size, and make sure it fits where it’s supposed to go. It gets a bit crowded in the shop when a big order comes in, but we manage to find the space to move around and get the job finished.
