You’ll find our workshop at B/5 Shivkrupa Society, on the Jungleshwar Mahadev Mandir Road. We are right opposite the Bal Surves office in Bhanushali Wadi Lane. It’s a bit of a maze to find us if you aren't from around here, but once you find the temple, we are close. We work with footwear here. It’s a dusty job, and there is always the smell of glue and rubber in the air. We have racks of soles and leather pieces waiting to be put together. We don't have a big retail store with glass windows. It’s more of a place where the actual work happens. My father started this and I just kept it going. We have a few old machines that make a lot of noise, but they still work better than the new ones sometimes. We spend a lot of time on our feet, ironically, making things for other people's feet. The floor is usually covered in small scraps of material that we sweep up at the end of every day. We don't really have a boss in a suit; we all just pitch in where needed. Some days the heat is tough, but we have a couple of big fans that help a bit. People know us for being reliable, and that’s enough for us. We just want to do a decent job and get home to our families.
