Shashi Phatak

I run things out of A/6 in the Deepak Building. This is in the Anushakti area of Chembur, right near Anand Nagar. It is a simple setup here. I don’t have a big staff or a fancy office suite. Shashi Phatak is just the name on the door and the way I do my business. Most days involve a lot of paperwork and phone calls. The Deepak Building has been here for a long time, and everyone in the block knows each other. It feels more like a community than just a business district. Sometimes the neighbors stop by to say hello while I am working. It is a quiet street mostly, away from the heaviest Chembur traffic. I keep my desk organized, or at least I try to. There are usually piles of files that need attention. It’s just me and the work. I don't use any slick marketing or try to act bigger than I am. If you need to find the place, you just look for the Anand Nagar signs and then head toward the Anushakti part. The room is small, but it has enough light from the window. I spend most of my day here. It’s a straightforward way to make a living. No frills, just getting the tasks finished one by one. People who come by usually appreciate that it’s just a normal person running things. It’s been my work home for years now and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else really.
