Schokolaade

Schokolaade is tucked away in Khar West, near Sahar and the Anita Dongre store area by the Bajaj building. We focus on chocolates and sweets. It’s a small operation. We don't have a giant factory, just our kitchen and a small counter where we put out what we’ve made for the day. Sometimes the smell of cocoa travels out onto the street and that’s how people find us. We aren't trying to be some fancy international brand. We just make stuff that tastes good and sell it to whoever walks in. The shop is a bit cramped because we have a lot of cooling trays and boxes sitting around. My aunt started this and now we just keep it going. We don’t have a website or a big marketing team. It’s just us. Sometimes we run out of things early if there’s a holiday coming up. We use local ingredients when we can. If you want a box of something for a gift, we can wrap it up in some simple paper. It’s not the most organized place, but the chocolate is solid. We spend most of our time in the back working. If the bell rings, someone will come out eventually to help you. We keep the shop clean but it's clearly a working space, not a boutique. We just enjoy making things that make people smile when they take a bite. There is usually a bit of sugar on the floor by the end of the day.
