Eight Plus

Eight Plus is located in Shop No. 6 of the Ram Bhavan Chawl. We are right on P. M. Road in the Khotwadi area of Santacruz West. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. The walls are lined with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, so we keep a rickety wooden ladder handy. You can hear the traffic on P. M. Road all day long, and the honking never really stops. It’s a lively place to work. Our neighbors in the chawl are always stopping by to chat or borrow a stapler. We don’t have much room for a proper break area, so we usually just eat our tiffin at the main counter. The floor is made of old tile that’s seen better days, but it’s easy to sweep. We spend our time checking the stock and helping whoever walks through the door. Sometimes it’s just someone asking for directions, and that’s fine too. We keep the ledger books by the window where the light is best. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. It’s just a humble little spot in a very busy part of the city. We open up early and stay until the street lights come on, just keeping things moving.
