Running Samrat Sweets on MNGS Street in Bhandup West keeps us on our feet all day long. It’s a local spot, nothing too grand, but we take pride in what we do. The morning starts with the smell of sugar and spices filling up the whole shop. We spend hours getting the display cases ready, lining up the different items so they look decent for the customers. Bhandup is a busy place, and MNGS Street has its own share of chaos with scooters and people always moving. We’ve got a small team here, and we all know our roles pretty well by now. There’s no big boss in a suit telling us what to do; we just know what needs to get done. Sometimes the floor gets a little sticky or we run out of packing paper in the middle of a rush, and we just have to scramble to fix it. We don’t have a mission statement or any of those things you see in big companies. We just want to make sure the stuff we sell is good and that people leave happy. Festivals are the hardest time because we barely get a moment to sit down, but it’s also when the shop feels most alive. It’s just a regular local business, run by regular people who’ve been here for a while and plan to stay for much longer.
