Samrat Catering Services is based right in Dadar West, across from the Plaza. Our office is in the Shri Bhushan building on R K Vaidya Marg. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets during the day. We’ve been here for a long time. Catering is hard work, mostly standing on your feet and making sure the food is ready on time. We don't have a polished front desk or anything like that. It’s a place where we plan menus and talk to people about what they want to eat at their functions. The kitchen side of things is always noisy and busy. We take our containers and equipment out to venues all over Mumbai. Dadar is a good central spot for that. Sometimes the rain makes things difficult, but we manage. We aren’t interested in fancy talk. We just provide the food and the service as requested. You can usually find one of us at the building if we aren’t out at a party. It’s a family-run feel, really. My uncle started things and we just kept going. We know the local markets well because we’re there every morning picking up supplies. It’s just how we do things here. The building is old but it works for us. We keep our gear in the back and the paperwork in the front. There’s always someone coming or going with a crate of something. It’s a bit messy but we know where everything is.
