We’ve been doing weddings here in Kandivali East for a while now. Most days you can find us at our spot at 21/02, usually surrounded by stacks of fabric samples or lists of catering menus that seem to grow every hour. Planning a wedding isn’t always glamorous like people think. It is mostly about making sure the generator shows up on time and that the flowers do not wilt before the guests get there. We know this neighborhood well, so we know which roads get jammed on Saturday nights and which vendors actually answer their phones when things go wrong. It’s just a few of us here. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving chairs around or checking that the lights are tucked away so nobody trips. Sometimes the work gets messy, especially during the monsoon when everything gets damp. But we keep at it because this is what we do. People come in with ideas, and we try to make them work without spending more than they have. It's practical work. We don't have a fancy office with leather chairs, just a place where we get the job done. If you have walked around Kandivali, you might have seen our vans or us hauling boxes into a hall somewhere. We just focus on getting the day finished right so the families can go home happy, even if we are tired by the end of it.
