Raza Poultry

Raza Poultry is located at Shop No 2 in Raut Wadi, which is in the Dadar West area near J K Sawan. It’s a straightforward poultry shop, so it’s not the quietest or the cleanest place to be, but it’s where we work every day. We start very early, often before it's even light outside, getting the birds ready and making sure everything is set for the morning rush. The shop is small and the floor is usually wet because we are constantly washing things down to keep it as tidy as possible. There’s a lot of noise from the fans and the chickens, and the air is always moving. We don't have any chairs, so we are on our feet all day long. Customers come in and out, mostly locals who have been buying from us for years. We do the cutting and the cleaning right there behind the counter. It’s a lot of physical work and it can be quite tiring, especially when it’s humid. We don't have a big sign or any special lights, just the shop number and the smell of a working poultry market. By the time the afternoon rolls around, we are usually starting to wind down and get ready for the next day. It’s a tough business but it’s a part of the neighborhood life here in Dadar. We just keep our heads down and serve whoever comes through the door.
