Radio Ceylon Orchestra

Radio Ceylon Orchestra has its home at B/11 Magret House on the 3rd floor in Sion. We’ve been around for a long time, and our space is always filled with instruments and the sound of music. It’s where we get together to practice and go over the songs we play. We focus on the kind of music that people remember from the old days, the stuff you used to hear on the radio. Sion is a central spot, and being on the 3rd floor keeps us a little bit away from the noise of the street, though you can still hear the city hum. Our room is full of cables, amplifiers, and chairs for the musicians. It’s not a polished studio, just a place where we work on our craft. We spend hours getting the notes right and making sure everyone is in sync. People who know about us usually find us through the events we play at. We don't really do much in the way of marketing. We just let the music speak for itself. We have some old photos of the band from years ago hanging up on the walls. Sometimes we argue about the tempo of a song for an hour before we actually start playing. Magret House is one of those places where everyone knows everyone else’s business, but it’s a good community. Sometimes the lift is temperamental, so we end up carrying things up the stairs. It’s all part of the life.
