Radhe Shyam Sweets Farsan

Our shop is Shop No 9 at Miskita Nagar, specifically in the G 1 section of the building. Being in Dahisar on C G Road near Navrangpura means there is always a lot of movement outside. We mostly deal with sweets and farsan, so our mornings are filled with the smell of frying and sugar syrup. It stays on your clothes all day. We start around six in the morning because the farsan needs to be fresh for the people heading to work. The space we have is okay, though it gets a bit cramped when the new stock of flour and oil arrives. We stack the boxes in the back and try to keep everything organized, but it’s a constant battle. The counter glass gets fingerprints on it every five minutes, so one of us is always standing there with a rag to wipe it down. We don't really have a big fancy sign or anything, just the name Radhe Shyam Sweets Farsan above the door. Most people know us because they walk past every day on their way to the station. Sometimes the monsoon rain leaks a little near the front shutter, so we have to put a bucket there, but it's not a big deal. We just keep serving whoever comes in, whether they want a full kilo or just a small packet of something to eat on the bus. It’s a simple business and we just do our best to stay busy.
