Punjabi Moti Halwai Shop

Punjabi Moti Halwai Shop is located on the Pune Satara Road at number 40, in the Fort area. We have been making sweets and snacks here for quite a long time. It’s a traditional Punjabi style shop, so we do a lot of things with pure ghee and milk. In the mornings, we are busy making samosas and kachoris because people like to have them for breakfast or a mid-morning snack. The big kadais are always bubbling with oil or milk. We have a glass display case where we keep the barfis, gulab jamuns, and laddoos. It’s not a quiet place; there is always the sound of the stove and people talking. We have some basic wooden benches if you want to eat your snacks right here while they are hot. The Pune Satara Road is always busy with travelers and locals, so we see a lot of different faces every day. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the recipes by heart. We don't measure things with fancy scales most of the time, we just go by how it looks and feels, the way we were taught. Sometimes the shop gets a bit smoky from the frying, but that’s part of the charm of a real halwai shop. We focus on getting the food out fresh every morning. It’s hard work being on your feet all day near the heat, but we are used to it and it keeps us busy.
