Progati

Our office, Progati, is situated in the Bulchand Estate at Kalbadevi. It is unit number 306 on the third floor of the building at 66 Narottam Morarjee Marg. This part of Mumbai is always moving and the noise never really stops until very late at night. The building itself is quite old, like many others in this district, so the stairs are a bit steep and the hallways are narrow. We have been here for a long time and the walls are covered with folders and stacks of papers that have accumulated over the years. It is a working environment through and through. You can hear the sounds of handcarts being pushed on the street below and the shouts of the loaders. Inside, we mostly deal with our daily business tasks and talk to the people who drop by for meetings. The windows don't let in a lot of light because the neighboring buildings are so close, so we keep the overhead tubes on all day long. It is a bit of a maze to find us if you are visiting for the first time, but once you get into the estate, most people can point you toward the right wing. We don't have much in the way of decoration, maybe just a calendar on the wall and a small clock that runs a few minutes fast. It is just a practical place for doing work in a very crowded part of the city.
