Prabhat Book House

We are located at Shop No.242 in the Santosh Building on LJ Road in Dadar West. Our place is very easy to spot because it is right near the Shivaji Park bus stop. Prabhat Book House has been a part of this neighborhood for many years now. We have books stacked in every available corner, from the floor all the way up to the ceiling. It’s the kind of place where you might have to squeeze past another person to get to the back shelf where the old titles are kept. We carry a lot of Marathi literature, school textbooks, and general fiction. The building is an old one, with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it relatively cool even when it’s hot outside. During the monsoon, we have to be very careful to keep the moisture away from the pages because the air gets very damp. Many people who go for walks in Shivaji Park stop by afterward to see what new titles we have in stock. It’s a quiet atmosphere inside, which is a nice change from the constant traffic on LJ Road. We don’t have a computer to search for books; we just know where everything is based on memory. It feels like a second home to us. We’ve seen many regular customers go from being school students to bringing their own children here to buy their first books. It’s a simple, honest bookshop for readers.
