Play Time is tucked away in Andheri West, inside Mahesh Niwas in the Shiv Shakti Colony. It’s a place where kids can just be kids, and honestly, it gets pretty loud. We have different games and areas for them to run around and get some energy out. I started this because I saw there wasn't much for children to do in this specific part of the colony. It’s not a huge fancy center, but we have enough to keep them busy for an afternoon. I spend most of my days making sure nobody gets hurt and that the equipment is still in one piece. The floor mats are a bit worn in the corners because so many feet have jumped on them over the months. We don’t have a big corporate structure or a mission statement. We just open the doors in the morning and wait for the families to show up. Parents often sit on the benches near the entrance, scrolling through their phones or chatting while the kids play. Sometimes we have to deal with tantrums or broken toys, but that is just part of the job. Andheri can be a stressful place to live, so having a small spot where kids can burn off some steam seems like a good thing. We keep it simple and try to make sure everyone follows the rules so things stay safe for all the little ones. It is a noisy job, but someone has to do it.
