Jaya Cinema

People have been coming to Jaya Cinema for a long time now. It sits right there on Borivali SV Road, which is always packed with cars and buses honking all day. Inside, things are a bit quieter until the movie starts. We have the old-fashioned ticket window where you still stand in line, and the lobby isn't anything fancy, just some posters and the smell of popcorn that stays in the carpet. The screen is big enough, and the sound works fine for the loud action scenes. Most folks who come here are from around the neighborhood. They know where to park their bikes and which seats they like best. It gets really busy on Friday nights when a new film comes out. Sometimes the air conditioning is a bit too cold, so people bring sweaters. The staff has been here for years, mostly just local guys who know the routine of cleaning up between shows. We open the doors about twenty minutes before the film starts. It’s a simple place to sit down for a couple of hours and get away from the heat outside on SV Road. We don’t have those fancy reclining leather chairs, just the regular ones that fold up. It works for the families and the college kids who just want to see a movie without paying for the big mall prices. Anyway, that is pretty much how it goes here every day from the morning show to the last one at night.
