Pathshala Puppets

Being located at 61 Banganga in Walkeshwar is something special. Malabar Hill has a specific feel to it, much quieter than the rest of the city. We work with puppets here at Pathshala Puppets. It is a bit of an old-fashioned craft, but we enjoy it. The area around Banganga Tank is full of history, and you can feel that when you walk to the studio. Our space is filled with strings, fabric, and wood scraps. It’s definitely not the cleanest office you’ll ever see because making things is messy. We spend our days carving or sewing characters. Sometimes it takes a long time to get a face just right. People often walk past and peek in to see what we are making. We aren't a big corporation; it’s just us doing the work we know how to do. The light in Walkeshwar is quite nice in the afternoons, which helps when you are doing detail work. We’ve been at this address for a good bit of time. It’s a small shop, really. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything. Most people find us by word of mouth or because they live nearby in Malabar Hill. It's a slow-paced kind of job, which suits the neighborhood. We just keep our heads down and keep the puppets moving. It's what we do every day. We hope to stay here for a long time.
