Park Malai Gola

If you are ever near Shivaji Park in Dadar West, you will find us there. It is a famous spot in Mumbai, and we feel lucky to have a place right where so much happens. On weekends, the whole area is packed with families and kids playing cricket. We are mostly busy during the hot afternoons and evenings when everyone is looking for something cool. Making gola is a messy business, to be honest. There is ice everywhere and the syrups can get sticky, but it’s what we do. We don't have a big air-conditioned shop, just our spot where we keep the ice blocks and the flavors ready. It gets very busy, and sometimes the line of people gets a bit long, but we try to move as fast as we can. We’ve seen many generations of families come by here, which is a nice feeling. We don't do any fancy marketing or have a website. People just know where we are because we’ve been here in Dadar for so long. The work is simple but tiring because you are on your feet all the time. By the end of the day, we are usually pretty exhausted, but it’s a good kind of tired. We just try to make sure the ice is shaved right and the flavors are what people expect. It’s a local thing, nothing more, nothing less.
