The Parel Chemists

If you are ever near KEM Hospital in Parel, you’ve probably seen us. We are at Shop No. 6/7 in Lahar Bros Mansion, right on Eborges Marg. Being right opposite a big hospital like KEM means we are almost always busy. There is a constant stream of people coming in with prescriptions or looking for surgical supplies. The shop is quite packed with medicine boxes stacked all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes it’s a bit of a scramble to find exactly what someone needs, but we usually know where everything is. It’s a fast-paced environment and you have to be quick on your feet. We hear a lot of stories from the people who come in, and we try to be as helpful as we can without making a big deal out of it. The noise from the street is constant—ambulances, taxis, and people shouting—but that’s just life in Parel. We’ve been here in this building for many years, and the shop has a bit of an old-fashioned feel to it. The wooden counters are worn down from years of use. We don't have a big corporate team; it’s just us working the counter and making sure the orders are filled correctly. It’s a tough job sometimes, especially on long shifts when the hospital across the street is extra busy, but it’s important work and we’re glad to be part of this neighborhood. We see a lot of the same people every week.
