We operate out of a small space on the 3rd floor of A Wing, Room No 9, over in Malabar Hill. It’s a quiet enough spot once you’re inside the building, though the climb up the stairs can be a bit much if you’re not used to it or if it’s been a long day. The room isn't huge, but it fits what we need. We’ve set it up so we can move around without bumping into each other too much during our sessions. It’s mostly just a couple of us running the show here. We don’t have a big receptionist or a waiting room with magazines and coffee. People usually just wait in the hallway or come right into the room. We spend our days teaching and practicing. Malabar Hill is a nice area, but our room is very basic and simple. It’s just white walls and a good floor that we try to keep clean. We’ve got a small window that looks out, which helps with the air circulation. Sometimes it gets a bit stuffy when there are more than five people in the room at once. We just open the door and hope for a breeze to come through the hallway. It’s an honest way to make a living, doing something we actually like. We’ve been in this building for a bit now, so we know the security guards and the other people on the floor. It’s a simple routine. We arrive, unlock the door, sweep the floor, and wait for the students to arrive. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our space and we like being here.
