We have been here at the Pubhari Building in Kalbadevi for quite some time now. If you know this area, you know it is always busy, people moving around constantly, and the Sharda Hotel is just right there, so there is usually the smell of food in the air while we work. This press is where we spend most of our daylight hours. It is a bit cramped with all the paper and the machines humming away, but it is just how things get done. We do not have a big fancy office, just the 26/28 spot where the ink gets on everything and the stacks of paper reach the ceiling. Sometimes the machines act up or the power fluctuates, which is just part of being in this old part of town. People drop in, ask if we can handle this or that job, and we just look at the schedule and see if we have the time. It is not a quiet place. There is always the sound of the presses going and the staff shouting over the noise to get things right. We keep our coffee mugs on the edges of the desks and try not to spill anything on the fresh prints. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but we just open the windows and keep going. It is a job like any other, mostly about making sure the ink looks okay and the cuts are straight enough. We have known the neighbors for years.
