New Variety Sweet Farshan & Snacks is on Gavipuram Main Road 14 in Malad West. It’s a long name for a small shop. We deal with a lot of sugar and flour. The smell in the morning is quite strong because we start the frying early. We have big trays of sweets lined up in the glass case. Sometimes the glass gets foggy from the heat. We get a lot of people in the morning looking for breakfast snacks. Then in the evening, it’s people taking boxes of sweets home for their families. Malad West is always moving, so we see a lot of different people. We don't have much space to sit, it’s mostly a walk-in place. The farshan is kept in big plastic jars. We have to weigh everything out on the old scale. It’s a lot of scooping and bagging. My hands are usually covered in flour by noon. We’ve been at Gavipuram Main Road 14 for a long time. The paint on the walls is a bit faded but the kitchen is kept very clean. We don't do advertisements. People just know we are here because they walk past us every day. We make everything ourselves in the back room. It’s a lot of stirring big pots. When a holiday comes, we are busy for eighteen hours straight. It’s just how it is. We like being part of the street.
