About New Bhagwan Cutpiece House – Textile in Mumbai
We are located on Dr Dsilva Road, right opposite the vegetable market in Dadar West. Being across from the market means it’s always crowded and noisy outside, which we’ve grown to love. The shop is filled with rolls of cloth and cut pieces of every color you can think of. It smells like fresh cotton and a bit of dust. We don’t have a lot of room to move around because we try to fit as much fabric as possible onto the shelves. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming here for years to find material for their clothes. We spend the day unrolling fabric, measuring it out with the wooden ruler, and cutting it for whoever needs a piece. It’s simple work, but you have to be careful with the measurements. We don’t have a fancy display window; the fabric itself is the main thing people see. Sometimes we get a bit behind on folding things back up, so there are piles of cloth here and there. It’s a family business, and you’ll usually find one of us standing near the entrance or helping someone match a color. We don’t do big sales or loud promotions. People just know we are here across from the vegetables. It’s a busy, colorful life in Dadar, and we’re just a small part of it. The cutting table is old and a bit worn, but it does the job just fine every day.
