N Js Sound Machine

Running this place out of Saigal House in Powai keeps us pretty busy every single day. We are right there in Saigal Wadi, tucked away opposite the IIT gate. You can hear the traffic from the main road all day long, especially the buses turning toward the hospital. Most of our time is spent untangling cables or testing out speakers that have seen better days. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things up against the walls, which makes it a bit cramped when a few people walk in at once. We usually have something playing on the monitors just to make sure the connections are solid. It gets a bit dusty because of all the construction around Powai, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the equipment with old rags. People come in looking for specific parts or just wanting to know why their home system isn't sounding right anymore. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know our way around a soundboard and a soldering iron. Lunch is usually something quick from the stalls nearby, eaten while sitting on a spare amp. It's a loud environment, but we've gotten used to it over the years. We stay open until the hospital lights across the street start looking bright in the dark. It is just how things go here, working through the pile of repairs and talking to anyone who drops by.
