Mm Mithaiwala

Everyone in Malad West knows where we are. Mm Mithaiwala has been a part of the neighborhood for quite a long time. If you walk down the street, you can usually smell the sugar and the frying long before you see the shop. We do sweets, snacks, and all kinds of traditional food. It’s crowded, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work and wants a quick bite or something to take back for their family. The kitchen is always moving. We have guys who have been making these recipes for decades. They don't need timers; they just know by the color or the smell when things are ready. It’s loud, it’s hot, and there’s always someone shouting an order. We don't have a lot of space for sitting, but people don't seem to mind standing around or taking their bags to go. During festivals, it gets absolutely chaotic here. We stay up late into the night making sure there is enough for everyone. It’s just how it is. We aren't trying to be a five-star restaurant. We just want to make the same food we’ve always made. Some days the floors get a bit sticky and the counters are full, but that’s a busy shop for you. Malad is a busy place and we just try to keep up with the pace of the city every day. We just keep the frying pans going.
