Mitthu Brothers

You can find us over at Suggi Ramniwas Chawl, right in the heart of Kurar Village. We are pretty close to the Vitthal Temple, so we hear the bells and the morning prayers every single day. It’s a small place, Number 1, so things are a bit tight inside. We are brothers running this together, and mostly we just spend our time figuring out the day's tasks while sitting on plastic chairs. The chawl is always full of life, with kids playing outside and neighbors talking across the balconies. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just the tools we need and some old calendars on the wall. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, but we keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. Life here in Malad East moves at its own pace. We know everyone on the street by name, and they know us. Sometimes we have to move stuff out onto the porch just to have enough room to breathe. It’s not a polished business with a reception desk or anything. It’s just us doing what we’ve learned over the years. We take our breaks at the small tea stall around the corner. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to worry about that. It’s just a simple, local operation where we work hard and go home tired at the end of the day.
