Metal Ore

Our office is in the Giriraj building, right on S.T. Road in the heart of the Iron Market. It’s a busy spot near Carnac Bunder where the trucks are constantly coming and going from the docks. Metal Ore has been in room 308 for quite a while now. The air around here always smells a bit like salt from the sea and rust from all the iron being moved around. It’s a noisy place to work, with horns honking all day long and the sound of cranes nearby. We don’t have any polished floors or expensive furniture in here. It’s mostly just desks covered in papers and samples of different ores and metals we handle. The elevator in the building is often slow, so we end up taking the stairs more than we’d like. Working in the Iron Market means you have to be okay with a bit of dirt and a lot of chaos. We start early in the morning before the traffic gets too bad, though it never really seems to stop. Most of our day is spent talking to transporters and checking on shipments. It’s a practical kind of life without any frills. We know the chai wallah by name and he knows exactly how we like our tea. That’s about as fancy as it gets for us here on Sant Tukaram Road. We just keep our heads down and get the work done.
