Mavis Daphne Fernandes

Mavis Daphne Fernandes operates from here in Swapnalok Apartments. We are up on the fifth floor in room 504. The Mukund Link Road is right outside the gates, so there is always a bit of a hum from the cars and buses going by. It’s a residential building mostly, so it stays a bit quieter than a big commercial hub in the middle of the city. We have our workspace set up in one of the rooms. There are books and papers everywhere, and usually a few coffee mugs that need washing by the end of the afternoon. It’s a very personal sort of place to work. You walk through the main gates and the security guard usually knows who is coming up to see us. We like the light that comes in during the early morning hours. It makes the small office feel a bit bigger than it actually is. Working from an apartment means things are a bit more relaxed than a standard office. We don't wear formal clothes or follow strict corporate rules here. If the doorbell rings, it might be a delivery or just a neighbor saying hello. We keep our heads down and handle whatever tasks are on the schedule for the day. Sometimes the birds on the balcony get a bit loud, which is actually quite nice compared to the traffic. It’s a modest spot for a business and we’ve been here a long time.
