Badshah Store

I've been coming to this shop every morning for a long time now. Badshah Store is right here on Abdul Rehman Street, just across from Crawford Market in Masjid. If you know this part of town, you know it is always loud and crowded. There are handcarts pushing past and people shouting all day. Our building is number 286. It is an old place, but it works for us. Inside, it is a bit cramped because we have so much stuff packed into the shelves. Sometimes the lights flicker when the power gets a bit wonky in the monsoon. We spend most of our day talking to people who wander in from the market or regulars who have been coming for years. We don't have fancy displays or anything. It's just a shop where things get done. The floor is a bit worn out from all the walking. When it rains, the street outside gets really messy, but we just keep the doors open and carry on. My desk is tucked in the back corner where it’s a bit quieter, but not really. You can still hear the horns honking outside constantly. We keep our ledger books on the top shelf and try to stay organized, though it's hard when things are moving fast. It’s just how it is working in Mandvi. We’ve seen the street change a lot over the years, but the store stays pretty much the same.
