We are based in Santacruz East, over in the 6th Block, at room 403. This is where all the planning for the events happens. It is a small space, usually filled with lists, sketches, and different color swatches. Organizing events is mostly about staying organized yourself, which is harder than it looks when you have five things happening at once. We spend a lot of time talking to decorators, caterers, and people who rent out furniture. It is a lot of coordination and making sure everyone knows where they are supposed to be. We don't have a big corporate structure here; it is mostly just us working directly with families and local groups to put their events together. Santacruz is a busy place, and we are often running around the neighborhood meeting people or checking out venues. There are days when nothing seems to go right, like a flower delivery getting stuck in traffic, and we just have to figure out a backup plan quickly. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the city; we just want to do a decent job for the people who hire us. It involves a lot of patience and a lot of phone calls. We keep things grounded and just focus on the details of each individual party or gathering we are asked to handle. It is a busy life but we are used to the pace.
