Khodiyar Traders

We've been at Laxminarayan Shopping Centre for a while now. Malad East is a busy area, and there is always something going on outside our door. We have a small corner in the mall where we keep all our stock. The morning starts with me sweeping the front and getting the lights on. Customers from the neighborhood walk in asking for all sorts of items. We keep a lot of things in the back that aren't easy to see from the front. Sometimes it’s a bit of a struggle to find exactly what someone wants right away. We spend a lot of our time sorting through boxes and checking what needs to be ordered. It’s a lot of manual work every day. The tea guy comes around eleven, which is a nice break. We usually talk about the weather or how bad the traffic is on the main road. The shopping centre gets really crowded on the weekends with families. We've been here long enough that we recognize most of the people who live in the area. It's just a regular trading business, nothing too fancy or modern. We keep our records by hand mostly. My nephew comes to help out when he isn't in school. We close up when the mall lights start dimming. It's a long day, but that's just how the business works for us. We try to keep things simple so people can find what they need close to home.
