We are right on S. V. Road, across from the Ravindra Hotel in Dahisar East. It’s a pretty easy place to spot once you get to this part of town. The shop is at A/4 Poona Hira, and it’s usually packed with all sorts of hardware items. We have bins full of screws, hinges, and drawer pulls that seem to multiply when you aren’t looking. It’s one of those places where you have to know exactly where you put something six months ago, or you’ll never find it again. The dust from the road comes in constantly, so we’re always wiping down the counters. It’s not a polished environment by any means. There’s no air conditioning, just the ceiling fans moving the warm air around while we look through catalogs. We get a lot of local contractors and people from the neighborhood who just need a specific bolt or a new handle for a cupboard. Sometimes we spend twenty minutes looking for a fifty-paise washer, but that’s just how the hardware business goes. Being opposite the hotel helps because people use it as a landmark to find us. We don’t do any big advertisements or anything fancy. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait to see what someone needs fixed that day. It's a bit cramped in here with all the boxes stacked up to the ceiling, but we manage to find what's needed eventually.
