J. K. & Sons Mumbai

J. K. & Sons Mumbai is just our small family business sitting right in the middle of Malad East. You can find us at the Anand Shopping Center, which is over on Gaushala Lane. It gets pretty loud around here because the Diamond Market is so close, and there are always people moving back and forth with bags and parcels. My father and I usually get to the shop around ten in the morning, unless the traffic is really bad on the way in. We spend most of the day just keeping things in order on the shelves and talking to the people who wander in from the lane. It’s not a very big space, but we have been here at number 66 for a long time now. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we never seem to find the time to actually do it. Most of our neighbors in the shopping center have been here just as long as we have, so we all know each other well. Sometimes we go out and get tea from the stall at the corner and just watch the crowd. It’s a busy life in Mumbai, but this shop is what we know. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. We just keep our stock ready and try to keep the dust off the counters as much as possible in this heat.
