M N Fabrics is located right in the heart of Mumbai’s fabric district. Our spot is in Mani Mahal, which is on Kalbadevi Road, right inside the M J Market. If you have ever been to Kalbadevi, you know how packed it is. We are on the 3rd floor, in units 1B, 7A, and 7B. It’s a bit of a climb if the lift is acting up, which happens more than we’d like. The building is old and has a lot of character. Fabric rolls are leaning against almost every wall. It is a bit chaotic, but everything has its place. The market downstairs is always shouting and moving, and that energy definitely makes its way up to us. Days are spent measuring out orders and talking to the wholesalers who come in and out. This is a very traditional way of doing business. No fancy software or big meetings are used here. Most of the time we just write things down in our registers and keep track of the stock by hand. Being in Mani Mahal at Plot 353/355 means we are right in the middle of everything. It’s loud, it’s crowded, and it’s usually very warm, but it is the perfect place for a fabric business. Our heads stay down while we get the orders out to the people who need them. Most folks around here know where to find us.
