You can find us at Malad West, right near the 5th Cross and 16th Main in Phase I. Our shop is always busy with the smell of sugar and ghee. We start very early in the morning because that is when the fresh milk arrives. Most of the work happens in the back where the big pans are bubbling. We make all sorts of sweets like barfis and ladoos. It is a lot of stirring and waiting for things to cool down. The staff spends hours shaping the sweets by hand. When the festival season comes around, it gets really crazy in here. We have boxes stacked up to the ceiling and people lining up out the door. We try to keep the glass counters clean, but with so many people pointing at things, there are always fingerprints. It is a neighborhood spot where people come for their daily snacks or something special for a party. We also have some savory items that people like to grab on their way home. The floors can get a bit sticky from the syrup, so we are always mopping. We have been here in Malad for a long time and seen the area change a lot. We just focus on getting the batches right and making sure the trays are full. It is hard work but we are used to the heat from the kitchen. We just keep making the sweets day after day.
