Laxmi Printing Press

We are located at 77 Fort in the Ramrath Industrial Estate. It’s an old building and the estate has a lot of different businesses tucked away in it. Our space is mostly taken up by the printing machines and stacks of paper. The smell of ink is pretty strong, but we don’t even notice it anymore. We spend the day setting up plates and watching the paper feed through. It gets quite loud when all the machines are running at once. We do all sorts of printing jobs for people who come in. Sometimes it’s just small things and other times it’s big stacks of stuff that take all day. The industrial estate can be a bit of a maze if you aren’t used to it. We have some old wooden tables where we sort through the finished work. It’s a lot of standing and moving around, making sure the colors look okay and nothing is jamming. We aren't trying to be anything special, just a local press doing the work that comes our way. The light in the shop isn't the best, but we have enough lamps to see what we are doing. When things get busy, the floor gets covered in scraps of paper. It’s just the way a real workshop looks. We’ve been in Fort for a while and like being part of the hustle here.
