Down on Harni Road in Mulund West, that’s where you’ll find L A Plastics. We’ve got a lot of plastic stuff here, stacked up high. Buckets, crates, bins, you name it. The shop has that specific smell of new plastic that you get used to after a while. It’s a practical place. We don’t have fancy decorations or a lounge area. Most of the floor space is taken up by the inventory. It can get a bit tight when we get a fresh shipment in and haven't had time to move things to the back yet. The street outside is usually busy with people going about their business. We know most of the other shop owners on Harni Road by name. We’ve been through the hot summers and the heavy rains together. When it pours, we have to move the stuff away from the front edge so it doesn't get splashed too much. Our desk is tucked away in the corner under a light that flickers if you don't hit the switch just right. We keep our records in big ledgers because that’s what we’ve always done. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works for us. We just focus on getting the right items to the people who need them. There’s no big secret to how we run things. We just show up, open the shutters, and get to work until it’s time to go home.
