Al Barkat Exports

If you know Mumbai, you know how hectic it gets around Kurla West. Our place, Al Barkat Exports, is right there at No. 33 Kantharia Mahal. It’s funny because we are directly opposite Phoenix Market City, so we see all that big mall energy while we’re over here doing our own thing. The traffic on Kamani is pretty much constant. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a while now. The building has that old Mumbai feel to it, and inside it’s mostly just desks, boxes, and people on phones or checking lists. We deal with a lot of exports, so there’s always paperwork piled up or someone checking on a shipment. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. You just walk in and see us working. Most of the staff has been here for years, so we’re like a big, slightly disorganized family. Lunchtime usually involves someone bringing in food and sharing it around. It’s loud, it’s busy, and it’s home for us. Sometimes the monsoon makes getting to the office a real headache, but we always manage to open up on time. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the goods get where they need to go. It isn't always smooth, but we get the job done. That's life at Kantharia Mahal for you. We just take each day as it comes and try to stay on top of the orders.
