Our place is right in the middle of the Shiv Dayal Market in Chembur. If you stand near the Shiv Mandir on R C Marg, you can see the hustle and bustle of the Chaura Bazar where we work. It is a noisy area, especially on festival days or weekends when the market is packed. We deal with tents, lights, and food for all kinds of gatherings. Our storage area is usually full of stacked chairs and big cooking pots. We don't have a polished showroom; it is more of a working office where we plan out the menus and the decorations. Sometimes we are arguing about where the flowers should go or checking if the spices for the catering are fresh. It is hard work and the days are long, especially when we have to set everything up before the sun comes up. The market can be quite dusty and the traffic is a bit much, but we like being where the action is. People drop by to talk about their weddings or small parties at home. We just listen to what they want and see what we can do with the stuff we have in the warehouse. It is not a glamorous job, but seeing a hall all set up and ready for a meal is a good feeling. We stay busy year-round here in the heart of Chembur.
