Kayser & Co

Our office is on the second floor of Raja Bahadur Mansion. It is an old building on Ebrahim Rahimtoola Road, at number 65. If you know this area, you already know how crowded and busy it gets outside on the street. The stairs up to the second floor are a bit narrow and steep, so you have to watch your step. We have been here at Kayser & Co for quite some time now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they hold all our files and shelves just fine. We spend most of our day sitting at the wooden desks, handling the paperwork and talking on the phone with suppliers. It is not a large space, but it is ours. You can hear the traffic from the road all day long, mostly the horns and the people shouting. It is just the way this neighborhood is. We usually keep a window open to catch a breeze, even if it brings in some dust from the street. People come in to see us for various things, mostly local business matters. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the stacks of paper get a bit high on the corners of the desks. There is a small tea shop downstairs that we use often. We do not have fancy lights or modern furniture. Everything here is functional and has been here for years. It works for us. (247 words)
