The Vimonisha Private Collection

We are located at 6 Bandra West, in the Mona Lisa Apartments. Bandra is a very busy part of the city, but once you get inside the apartment, it's a lot quieter. We keep a private collection here, which means we have a lot of different items that we have to look after and organize. It’s not like a regular shop where people are walking in and out all day from the street. It’s more personal than that. The rooms are filled with things we have collected over time, and we spend a lot of our day just making sure everything is where it should be. The apartment has those big windows that let in some light, but we try to keep things cool so nothing gets damaged. Being in Bandra, you can hear the birds and the traffic at the same time. It’s a strange mix. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where every single piece is kept. Sometimes we have people come by to see the collection, and we spend time showing them around and talking about the pieces. It’s a slow kind of work compared to the rest of the city. We don't use a lot of technology, mostly just notebooks and pens to keep track of things. It feels more like a home than an office, which makes the work feel less like a chore.
