Kalpana Marriage Kendra

Malad East is a busy place to work. Our office is at C/10 on Sinhgad Road, right in the middle of Hingne Khurd. Most days start with opening the shutters and cleaning the dust off the desks. This area gets quite a lot of traffic, so there is always a background noise of rickshaws and cars outside. We have been here at Kalpana Marriage Kendra for a while now. People come to see us when they want to get married. It’s mostly just sitting down with families and looking through folders. The office isn't very big, and the chairs are a bit old, but they do the job. We have a small fan that rattles in the corner during the afternoons when it gets hot. Sometimes we get busy with people dropping in without calling first. It’s just how things go here. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some desks, some tea, and a lot of conversations about who would be a good match for someone else's son or daughter. The neighborhood has changed over the years, but our spot stays pretty much the same. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking details and making sure names are spelled right. It’s honest work and keeps us occupied from morning until evening. Most of the time, the tea stall nearby is where we get our breaks. It’s a simple life for us in Malad East.
