Kajal Caterers & Mandap Decorators is located at Dhobi Street 7. If you know the area, you know it’s a tight street with a lot of activity. We’ve been here a long time, and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we are still in the same spot. Our place is usually filled with stacks of chairs, folded tents, and big cooking pots. It can look a bit cluttered to someone walking in for the first time, but we know where everything is. Running a catering and mandap business from Dhobi Street means we are always loading and unloading trucks. The morning starts early here, especially when there’s a big wedding or a local festival. You’ll see the staff moving stuff out to the vans while the neighbors are just waking up. We don't have a flashy showroom. People usually just come by the house or call us up because they saw our work at a family wedding. It’s a family-style operation. We handle the food and the decorations for all sorts of gatherings. It gets sweaty and loud in the kitchen, and moving those heavy mandap poles is hard work, but it’s what we do. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing fancy paperwork. Most of our notes are on paper scraps or just kept in our heads. That’s just the way it’s always been done at number 7.
