Jalaram Farsan Mart

If you go down to Chowkhandi Wadi in Kandivali West, you’ll find us at Shop No 6 in the Kamal Jyoti Baug building. We are right there in Vayda Pole. Jalaram Farsan Mart has been our life for many years. We spend most of our time around big fryers and bags of flour. The smell of snacks is always in the air here. It’s a small shop, and it can get quite hot in the back where we cook everything. We make all kinds of farsan, the usual stuff people like to eat with their tea. We aren't a big chain or a fancy boutique. It’s just a counter with glass jars and packets stacked up. Some days we run out of things faster than we expected, and other days it’s quiet and we just sit and talk. The neighborhood knows us, and we know most of our customers by name. We see kids coming in after school and elders stopping by on their walk. Our floor is usually a bit dusty from the flour, and the bags are piled up in the corner. We don't have a marketing team or anyone telling us how to run things. We just make the snacks the way we learned how to. It's a lot of manual work, lifting heavy containers and packing things by hand. But it keeps us busy and we like being part of the community here in Kandivali. We hope to stay here for many more years.
