Down in Chinchpokli at 439/D, you will find us at Jai Maharashtra Farsan Sweet Mart. We are tucked inside the Ram Bharosa Estate, which is a busy little area if you know it. Our days start very early because farsan takes time to get right. The oil gets hot and the smell of gram flour is everywhere by six in the morning. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone to write fancy things for us. It is just the family and a couple of helpers who have been with us for years. The estate is old, and our shop has that look too. We keep the glass cases wiped down, but they get foggy when it’s humid. People come in for their snacks on their way home from work. We recognize most of them by face. Sometimes we run out of things before the evening rush is over, and that is just how it goes. There’s no point in pretending we are a giant factory. We are just a local mart in Chinchpokli. Some days are slow, and we just sit and watch the traffic go by the estate entrance. Other days, we can’t keep up with the frying.
