Jai Hind Novelty Stores

We’ve been here at Gaiwadi on J S S Road for quite a long time now. If you know the Girgaum area at all, you probably know where the Gokhale Road intersection is. That is exactly where our shop, Jai Hind Novelty Stores, is located. It is a busy spot. There is always a lot of traffic passing by No 173 and people walking to and from Charni Road station. Our space isn't huge, but we pack a lot into it. Most days start early with us setting things up and getting the shutters open. We see all sorts of people coming in. Some are locals who have lived in these buildings for decades, and others are just passing through. It gets crowded in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work. We mostly deal with small novelty items and the kind of things people need for their homes or for gifts. It's nothing fancy, just a regular shop where we try to keep things organized. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic with all the stock arriving, but that is just how it is in this part of the city. We know many of our customers by face because they've been coming here since they were kids. It’s nice to have that connection to the neighborhood. The heat can get a bit much in the afternoons, but we just keep the fans going and get on with the day’s work.
